If they had to describe their sound, Another Project would probably call it nu-disco, slow, dirty, rock-pop…Us, we call it DISCO….But it’s hard to pigeon hole this trio from Liverpool -they have wide reaching influences; spanning everything from Lamb to Larry Levan. And they’re fond of Alliteration.

The history of this band of muso’s goes back to 2005 where DJ/producer Sean Martin hooked up with songwriter Hank Dolnez to start work on backing tracks for Hank’s acoustic material. The result was a collaboration that has lasted to this day, and when Matt O’Brien joined the band to add what most people would describe as a bit of oomph, the project was underway.

“The project is a home for our weird musical experiments” says Sean who also produces edits under the name of Butterfunk, and has been DJing since 1998.

“We have no idea where a track will lead us when we’re writing” adds Matt, “so it takes away the pressure of having to fit your creative processes around a pre conceived idea”.

Well, here at Parallax HQ we’re certainly not complaining on the absence of any pre-conceived templates. We like the way Another Project do things.

Pure Electric Signal is a monster of a track. Bassline: check. Huge Synthlines: check. Raw, sleazy, heavy funk: check. And like the guys say, they definitely haven’t conformed to any tried and tested template – the track has a vitality all of it’s own, constantly weaving it’s way through the future and past of disco, stopping at the dancefloor after every fourth beat.

A track like this, in our opinion, needed a remix. So we looked no further than fellow Liver Bird Gareth Cheshire. Mr Cheshire has titled his vision of the track as his ‘Deluxe Balearic Version’. And that description is perfect in our eyes. It sounds expensive, and anyone who knows the true meaning of the word Balearic will adore this track, we promise.

Last (but by no means least)we have Crowd Pleaser. It would have been an injustice to call the track anything else to be honest. It’s a huge slab of heavy disco aimed squarely at the dancefloor, and guys – this track will tear holes in your dancefloor.

This is a beast of a package, and we’re so pleased to be setting it free.
