“I can feel your love fading…Away from me…”
I can. And it worries me. So, in a bid to win you back – after flowers, chocolates and a weekend in Slough didn’t do the trick – I’m pulling my trump card, in the form of Ben Shotton – aka The Warm Signal.
I know, I know baby – I’ve missed you too…
The release is centred around title track Faded Love - taking a classic Temptations vocal and lovingly surrounding it with thick, smouldering beats, quivvering synths, a knee-weakening bassline and smouldering subs.
I’ll stop there – before I go too far and possibly get hired to voiceover a Marks & Spencer advert…
Also included are Beta Man and Reasons - all Killer and no filler here; each are just as strong as the title track - Beta Man with a gritty, dusty NYC street vibe and Reasons with it’s huge reverberating piano stabs. As if that wasn’t enough – Ben has crafted Faded City Soul - his translation of influences by Detroit luminaries, and a very heavy dub mix of Faded Love.
Ben has recently packed up and moved his studio and family to Australia (booking agents take note). Maybe his Geordie accent is fading, but I’m sure that’s all – his studio output positively shines…
