“On the sixth day God made Man, on the seventh day MannMadeMusic”
Iain Mann, known to his 1100+ Soundcloud followers as MannMadeMusic, likes making music. It says so in his alias. And the music Iain makes has a definite feel of being hand-crafted; man made. Analyse his namesake further and you’ll see obvious links to one of his biggest influences – MoodyMann, and in turn, MoodyManc.
Iain only started producing music less than a year ago. His debut release on Audio Parallax, and our first release as a label, was the track that made us decide to take the plunge and form the label. And we’re so glad we did. I mean, tracks like these need to be released.
‘Deep Soul’ is everything that an edit should be. Iain’s use of samples is jaw-droppingly simplistic – with strings that instantly lift your mood and a vocal that makes you want to shake a strangers hand, it does what any decent track should – make you smile, make you tap your foot, remind you of good times gone by.
You might think the above is laying it on a little thick, but listen to the track and you’ll get it.
A track like ‘Deep Soul’ deserves a remix. So, we roped in Matthew Kyle. You may know Matt as M.K. or NoRequests, and if you’ve not heard of him – shame on you. Matt has literally taken the slo-mo/disco edit scene by storm over the past year. With a huge following on the web, regular gigs in his home town of NY, two vinyl releases and releases in the pipeline for Audio Parallax – things are looking very good for Matthew. Watch this space.
With his remix of ‘Deep Soul’ Matt brings his trademark sound to the table, re-designing the drums and percussion and adding a carnival-throb to proceedings, all complimented beautifully with the chopped up strings and vocals.
We close the release with ‘Sounds Of Old’. The track is in the same vein as ‘Deep Soul’ – built around an inspiring string sample and keeping the BPM slow.
